POETRY BY JACK BOWMAN

Down at the Communist Cafe by Jack Bowman

Lenin smoking Cuban cigars

and talking Marx to Stalin

Down at the Communist Cafe

The place gets quiet when Che Guevara walks in.

His Black Beret

askew from the wind

Down at the Communist Cafe

Marx and Engels

quietly sipping coffee

While they scribble

"Das Kapital"

Down at the Communist Cafe

A hammer pounding steel

and a sickle cutting wheat

The peasant and the Worker

with calluses on their feet

Knowing they are always welcome

Down at the Communist Cafe

In walks Mao Tse-Tung

with his red book shinning

He hangs his withered hat

on the star called the sun

Down at the Communist Cafe

Mao opens up his book

and starts writing notes

Knowing the world will tremble

When he publishes his book of quotes

Down at the Communist Cafe.
